RTU Fender Platform

I have a 1946 RTU. I found some fenders. My model should have extensions attached on the back platform. I do not have the extensions. This piece came off a MM, but we don't know what year/model. It fits my tractor, by replacing the existing platform, except the PTO cover won't go on. What tractor/year was this platform used? Should I hold out for original extensions on my tractor, or make this one work? Thanks.

Minicass, I may be missing something here, but why don't you use the platform on your 46 RTU that you have pictured? Like T.R.K. said, it looks like an early R platform in which case you do not need extensions. The later platform was narrower and needed the extensions to get out to the dimension that the earlier ones had. Unless you are wanting to be politically correct (like me) that earlier platform should work. If you go the 3 piece platform route you will need the 2 brackets also. Hope this helps.

Jim, thanks for the reply. My 1946 has the narrow platform. Thanks to the replies on the forum, I found out the platform in the picture goes to an earlier model. I have decided not to use the wide platform, but try to find the appropriate extensions for my model.

I have the platform from a 48 model on a tractor I am parting out. More than likely it you would have as much in shipping on it from central Illinois.

The picture is of a platfor from a '39 or '40 model R. I have one like it on my '40 RTS. Later Rs used a 3-piece platform up until about 1950 when it was changed again. I have the 3-piece on a '48 model.

The PTO cover is a U-Shaped piece of sheetmetal that bolts to the platform. I am thinking it will be the same part that was used on a '39 or '40 U, but not a ZT part for some reason.

I've never seen a platform like that one. The drawbar support looks like that of a Moline. I've got photos of what the platform should look like. Will this mount on your "R" -except for the PTO shield?
