Best UTU restoration I have seen. Just to start some talk I think the original starter, gen and carburater were yellow. I like them better black however.
Also think the rear hubs were yellow. This could have been either way however. Don't think the muffler is original but you may not be able to get one. If you decide to sell it let me know I'll take it with these flaws.

Harrold, I read on one of the boards some were that the early tractors had the starter and generators painted black because the were optional in the beginning and therefore were not painted when the rest of the tractor was painted but were left the original black from Delco. On this particular U the rear hubs are the one peice center and therefore should be all red as painted. I am not an expert but I think Rick has done a fairly accurate job and it looks even better in real life. And it will outpull any Oliver going. (hehehe)

I agree it is super restore job. I was a dealer when this model U was sold and have never seen one with black starter and Gen come from factory. As I have already said I think they look better black. You are right about one piece rear wheels being red.
This tractor appeared to me to have 2 piece wheels..

Looks great. Just one problem. By the looks you don't use the pulley. TAKE IT OFF! unless you have the style with the cut-out. read the owners manual. highly not-recomended to operate with pulley on when not using. very hard on shafts & brakes. Please don't think I'm being critical, just don't want to see you damage such a nice looking tractor.

Right you are about MM reccommending removing the pulley when not in use, but from the looks of the picture I don't believe Rick uses the tractor either. If I had a "U" looking that good, I would just park it in the living room and look at it, except on parade day.

You are correct. Rick does not use that one much. If he parked all the tractors he has that look that good in his living room he would have to build a MUCH bigger living room. He does an incredible job on his tractors.


Except for this one old UGLY Oliver. I think he hides it out behind the shed where it belongs!
