A friend has a horse drawn dump rake with the MM logos on each wheel hub. That is the only identification we can find. He wants to restore it, but doesn't know how the draw bar attaches. We could use pictures, model numbers, anything to help identify and restore this old impliment.
Thanks for your input.

A 1 horse hitch had 2 shafts with a single tree, a two horse setup had 1 hitch pole between the team with a double tree. Most hitches were cut off to pull behind a tractor.

If it was horse drawn, instead of a hitch, it probably had two wooden shafts about 2-1/2 feet apart. They look nice painted red with yellow wheels.

Yes, I believe there were two shafts running down the middle, for a team, but I'm not sure. Have any photos?
Thanks.

I don't think they used a team. Just one horse between the shafts.

Oh. I thought the shafts were only a few feet apart. I found a picture of one with two draw bars, wide enough for a horse to fit inside, and the guy who has the rake said its a two horse rake, with two draw bars side by side.
I guess I don't know, that's why I'm looking for a phota.

For a team there would only be 1 pole and that would be in the exact center of rake for 1 horse on each side but it would have to be a very wide rake to have needed the power of 2 horses to pull it. Most rakes 1 horse would have been enough and that rake would have had shafts for the 1 horse to fit in between and they would have been about 40-42" apart,20-21" out from center each way, you should find holes there, the same as the corn rows were made due to the width of the horse and that is why the 40-42" corn row spacing came about and thr rake shafts should be just about the same distance apart.
