I have water leaking from the bottom hole on the water pump in the area below the grease zerk. The 283-4a power unit is used on an irrigation well. I would imagine it is the seal going bad or shaft groove. How hard is this to replace? Can I take the part off and take it to shop for seal sizing and such? If the shaft is bad, can I still get this? Will it screw up the mag timing if something turns a little? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I have rebuilt my UB (283 4) water pump on the tractor. It is a simple repair,just be aware that the impeller is loosened by turning it clockwise (left hand thread).
Parts are availabile from Agco.
