A friend needs brake drums for an R, are they that hard to find? I know nothing else about why the drums are "bad". Have tried a couple of the 'usual' suppliers with nothing. Any advice/direction would be appreciated! This tractor was sold new by a great-uncle of mine to a neighbor, that's where I got involved. Thanks!

THANKS to BMG1 and UTURN! I haven't put eyes on it yet and I need to talk directly with the owner, probably after the Holidays before I'll see him. When I sort out the problem, I'll post back. Thanks again, I appreciate the help!

He probably needs linings for his brake disks for his R. If that is the case, he needs to know if it is early style or late style. The early design used 1 disk on each side and the late style used 2 disks on each side with an actuator assembly between the disks.
The change was in about 1948, There were some 'transition' models that used the early 6 spline axle with the later 2 disk arrangement. Later 2 disk models used an axle with many more splines and the brake disks do not interchange, but the linings are the same as far as I know.

Welter's # is 417-489-6496. Baucom is 1-800-658-2309. The 'free' phone call not necessarily 'free' as Baucom ships only COD which used to be automatic extra $5 and is probably more now.

All Moline R models use disc brakes. Brake drums are not being reproduced for any of the letter series Molines that did use them (Z,U,G). You can just re-line the existing brake discs at a clutch and brake shop. Are you sure its a model R? The ZT looks very similar to the R but they don't share any parts except for a few engine and sheet metal parts.
