I have located a 1971 G950 Diesel,CAH, good paint, 70% tires, 3750hrs. What is the going price for a tractor like this? Thanks alot.

We have had a MM G950 for several years. It is pictured in the tractor photos on this site. Equipped with factory Crenlo cab,5spd trans w/2spd amplitorq,wheatland front. Soon as we got this tractor we rented a 9ft ag bagger for corn silage. We put our smooth,powerful Cockshutt 1855 on the bagger pto. Ran great until the silage boxes fed a little too uneven and killed the engine. So we tried the MM 950 on the bagger. When those uneven bunches and heavy slugs came through she'd beller like a locomotive,lose maybe 2-300 rpms and pull right back up. No worries about babysitting this tractor,it just took care of business. I don't know what your prospective MM 950 is worth but we are like the other owner posting earlier; it will take more than $6000 to get this one. Of our 30 or so tractors,that is probably the last we would part with.

The 3750 hours is getting to the point it will require a rebuild. Rebuilt mine at 3300 hours. Factory cabs offered by Moline were the Crenlow, and Meade which was in Kansas, but is no longer making cabs. On the front of my original operators manual it shows the G950 with Crenlow cab. The Meade was the only one with MM decals from the factory. The Crenlow was a bettter cab having a ROPS structure and I think it was the only one offered with A/C. I have the Meade cab. The prices that were quoted, $1800-$4500 for a good 90 hp tractor are laughable in my opinion. Not very many were made and the only downside could be parts availability particularly for the three speed ampli-torc. If the tractor is good I would suggest the $4500 is the low end, and $6000 plus for one in good shape with a recently rebuilt engine. I think that mine would be parted out or sent to the crusher before selling it for less than $6000.

Well if I buy this tractor with 3750 hrs, how much money are we talking about to rebuild the engine? Does the engine have to be removed from the tractor to be rebuilt?

No you don't have to remove the engine, but many would claim it is a good idea to remove the crankshaft and have it measured and reground if necessary. I didn't, but rolled in new bearings and replaced the crank seals. I had the cylinders bored out to the G1050's 504 cu in. Since the original heads were were OK and retained, (magna-fluxed for cracking), also bored the energy cells slightly (suggested by the machine shop who knew MM's forward and backward) to lower the compression ratio back to standard. Used new pistons/rings and several new valves. New clutch, and had the injection pump and nozzles rebuilt. Spent around $3,000. Dynoed at 118 hp when new. I've put less than 300 hours on it since the rebuild which was six years ago. Have plenty of tractors and spread the work around. I think you could just bore 0.025 or so and install new pistons and rings for less than $1500. But if the engine will start OK at around 40 degrees F and quits misfiring in a few minutes then don't worry about rebuiding, just use it. Primary reason for rebuilding is broken top piston rings, they were too thin.

This is out of the 2007 edition of the tractor blue book.
Used trade in Ave-$1810 High $2910

Used retail Ave-$3770 High $4520

A cab was not an option when new.

Cab was listed as a factory installed option dated Dec 1, 1970 for $1175.00. That was a Crenlo ROPS cab.
