I bought 3 used pistons & 2 matching wrist pins from ebay I believe they came off a U the previous didn't know, they measure 4 3/8" in diameter. They have the numbers "10A1900" and "4-20" on the inside of the pistons. These numbers don't jive with any part numbers in my 283KEF parts book and I'm wondering if they came out of a 283A engine? If so will they work in my KEF engine and are they oversizes pistons ? ( I don't think they can be with that diameter).

Your KEF engine should have been 4-1/4 bore originally. That would make your new pistons a pretty drastic oversize. (Probably doable, if you had a set of 4.)

Another thing: I bet those 10A1900 pistons use a full floating pin and locks to hold the pins in the pistons. Your KEF probably has the pin locked in place in the piston with a setscrew.

If so, you will probably have to have the small ends of the rods machined narrower to work with the full floating pins because the slot the rod goes in in the piston is narrower.

I can't tell you what those 4-3/8 pistons fit.

My UB and UTS Repair Catalog shows 10B1900 as the part number for a set of standard pistons for gasoline, tractor fuel or LP Gas engines. Those engines would be also known as 283-B-4 engines. HTH
