My dad and I are working on a vista g1000 diesel. The block is junk. Do any of you guys have any info on getting a 504 diesel or any other block that would fit our tractor. We are looking in verona missouri at wealters farm supply but they don't think they have anything. Any information is greatly appreciated, thanks a lot

We just put a 585 in a vista, went well, you will need a flywheel to match everything up. if you call me I will tell you what we did.

Well I have a Vista with a 585 in it. They cut a hole in the right hood panel for air cleaner access and a new hole for the muffler. The tractor came from Foland Farm Equipment at Sidney, Neb. so maybe they would have some ideas about how to do it. The tractor would really move in road gear with 18.4-38 tires but really needed a slower first gear. Mine has an internal oil pump. If you use a 585 with an external oil pump you will have to figure out how to get an hydraulic pump adapted.

Do you have any idea how much horsepower that it is putting out?
Did they use the stock air cleaner cannister

It has the stock air filter. The person who did the conversion cut a square out of the right hood panel and put hinges on it for acess to the filter. As for horsepower it is about the same as our G1355. Main disadvantage is first gear is so high you can't go slow enough for some things. Really flies down the road though. Pulled a New Holland 892 with three row head chopping corn.
