I posted a message about a month ago with some questions on my brakes I got a helpful response I removed the side cover over the brakes when i did that 80 90 ran out of the top hole where the brace for the running board hanges down but not out of the other two holes I put the bolt back in the leak has stoped I cleaned out the housing around the brakes and it has been dry for several days do I still need to replace the seals or just a little permatex on the treads of the bolt the oil seems like it would run out the hole where the bolt from the pedels goes throw the housing the fill level plug on the rear compartment of the trany is lower then this top bolt I removed the plug an oil ran out of course but is it to full and thats why it is leaking around the bolt and on to the brakes any thoughts and help would be very useful thanks

When the rear is too full it sometimes has water in it. After parking it for some time the water settles to the bottom and the 80/90 floats on top. Before driving it and mixing the water and oil, slowly open the drain plug and see if you can let the water out. Somtimes you get a gallon or two of water out before the oil starts to flow.

If it has water in it you might want to go ahead and change it. I like to use the above water removal procedure; then drive it until the oil is warmed up; then change it after letting it drain overnight.

Eric,
There are two fluid level plugs. I think The important one is back near the brake pedals. (Its back that far, I just can't remember which side its on) The fluid level plug near where the T/A lever goes in the gear case should only show fluid after the tractor has been driven a while. Oil slung off the gears is funneled to the front to lubricate the T/A. It all runs to the rear when the tractor is at rest.

I guess its your call on the seal. Apparrently it is holding the oil in at present. I would definately put permatex on the bolt. They don't usually go through the casting, but yours apparently has at least a pinhole. You are planning to replace the linings, arent you? The brakes tend to get real grabby if you just clean the surface oil off them.
