445 too fast

does anybody know why a 57 445u with 14.9 x 28 is so fast. 4th gear is like road gear, 2th will do 4,5 mile a hour, our the tires right, or do i have a racer. thanks Don

I don't think you have a racer. When I got my 445 row crop, the seller said there was something wrong in the transmission. I played with the tractor and couldn't make sense of the gearing. Then I repaired the transmission; the problem was just a couple of snaprings. Anyway, prior to the repair, I thought 4th was road gear because I couldn't get it in 5th. Once the transmission was fixed, I could get in road gear so I knew that 4th was 4th, etc. Yes, a 445 in 4th gear is way fast. If you get an operators manual it will confirm that 4th is fast!!!!! !!
