I purchased a Jet Star orchard a couple of years ago and have since had a couple of questions about them that I have not been unable to find answers to. What is the production number breakdown on them? Mine is an LP and the guy I bought it from said there were 80 of them made. But, he wasn't really a Moline guy and this was just what someone else had told him. Also he did not specify if that was just LP's or the total number. Second how many restored ones have sold on auctions in the last ten years, and what did they bring? I haven't really seen any for sale or on auctions, since I bought mine. Thanks for any info you may have.

Dan

I am assuming that your JSO has serial number prefix 307. 307s were gas/lp, lumped together made from 1965 (30700001) to 1967 (30700070) Most pics of JSOs I have seen are lp or diesel.

There were also 20 diesel made in 1967. 34400001-34400020.

One thing I see is that all these tractors were produced after the jet3 was in production so I don't know if they have jetstar or jet3 sheetmetal. Or if like other things moline "It depends."

This is surviving info. Not entirely gospel as I have a 1953 ZAS modified for orchard use (There is another like it in MN) and a picture of a regular jetstar modified with fenders for orchard use. Some people call them 'Boozer' conversions.

Let us know your serial number. Does your jetstar have the operator station to the rear, over the drawbar?

Mine has the Jet Star sheet metal. I couldn't get to the serial number to read the prefix, but I know its the prefix, a bunch of zeros and then 11. The seat is back over the drawbar, and it has a hand clutch. There were 20 Jet Star 3 diesel orchards made, so I am guessing those are the ones with the 344 prefix. I have posted a picture of it in the tractor photos section.

Thanks,
Dan

A fellow member of our M-M SiouxLand Collectors Club here in South Dakota has JSO restored. Very, very nice. Email me and I will try to contact him to get in touch with you.
