fair deal on a G-1355 w/ 2593 hours

Looking at a 1973 G1355 with 2500 one owner original hours. Has exteral high output engine oil pump, runs real nice, fender fuel tanks, clamp on duals that look new, fronts & rears 80%, always shedded and includes a cab from a G700 (doesn't quite fit all the way around). Everything seems to work and the hydraulic does not get hot. Also no hydraulic leaks to speak of. Tin is straight and paint is pretty good execpt where fuel has spilled on the engine. Price range is 10,500 to 11,000. Is this a fair price for the low hours. Also, how many hours before an overhaul would be needed. Oil pressure was 80lbs at start up and stayed high after it warmed up although i really didn't check it after I brought it back down to idle.

I figure a tractor like that $8500.If your going to spend 11000 You could get a newer model tractor.

Unfortunately the MM diesels had a tendency to suffer broken top rings around 3-4 thousand hours, which requires a rebuild. The rings were just too thin. Figure you have about 1000 hrs before rebuild. Of course this depends on how hard the tractor was run. Using ether compounds the problem. I would really have to know that the tractor had an easy life to pay $11000, or just be darn determined to have a G1355.

Judging from the equipment this guy has and the fact he ran a 2-180 white 4wd most of the time, I would expect the tractor had an easy life. I have been around Olivers for a long time and the thing that impresses me is the lack of wear and tear. No real hydraulic leaks and a pump that runs cool to the touch. Still thinking about it.

I bought a 2270(sames as 1355)with duals similar hours as the one you are looking at for 2700$. The oil pressure stays at 80lbs and rarely goes lower. I have used tractor for 5 years now with little trouble. The pto ran all the time so that cost me 1200$. I think the one you are looking at is priced high unless it has 3pt.

It has 3 point and seems to be in very good shape. the problem in our area is that if a dealer has one of these, he is asking $11,000. I spoke to another party in Prescott WI who is asking $10,500 with no cab, not fender tanks and alot more hours. On the web I have found two others for the $7,000 to $8,000 range, but shipping needs to be added. It would be nice to find one for $2700 like I did on an Oliver 1855 (3500) almost 8 years ago, but you just don't see that anymore. It looks good, runs good and I could use it but I am still unsure.
