I need help identifying the year of a M. M. I just bought. The model is a 1xb3sl and the SN 206873 I have read that the SN in on the right side of the gear case and that is the SN I came up with.

Just want to add that the BG tractors had a MM tag riveted to the right hand frame rail near the footrest. As far as I know all the BF tractors had the serial number stamped on the right hand frame rail.
On Mom's BG the tag is near the right hand footrest.
If by chance there is no stamped number and no tag, a BG is offset to the left like a farmall A while the drivetrain on a BF follows the centerline of the chassis.

Thanks for the help I have not had a chance to look for the SN as of yet I will check this weekend and let you know what I find. The unit is in good shape. I had it running in just a short time it was given to me buy a friend he said it had not run in three years. The firing order was off runs great. I do need to get my hands on a crab kit if there still offered. Once again thanks for the help.

The infomation you posted relates to the engine. The tractor serial number is stamped into the right-hand siderail and should begin with an "R". Based on the engine, you have either and BF or BG series tractor. These were made by MM from '51 to '53. Those are both nice tractors.

Post the serial number from the frame rail and your tractor can be more accurately identified.
