Understanding the Serial # of a MM (RTU??) Tractor

Does anyone know how to identify an MM tractor through the serial number? Seems to be lots of conflicting opinions?? The ID plate serial # is RTU 411447U. What does the "U" at the end of the serial number mean? And I should note, this tractor has the wide (wheel) front end - and somebody mentioned on another e-mail that regardless of RTU on the ID plate, it's really RTS or RTE if it has the wide front end?? I don't know if this is true, but any help in identifying what kind of tractor I have would be appreciated!

More likely than not you have the parts of two different tractors. The rear end including the tranny and engine for a RTU. But somewhere along its way someone has bolted a RTS "fixed wide front on it or the RTE wide front "adjustable" wide front. The only thing required to do this is to change out the narrow front "Pedestal" assy. out by simply unbolting it and replacing it with the other front end. No drilling or special modifications are needed to do this. They would also have the switch the steering rod around as well, but here again nothing special needed be side a donor tractor with a wide front end on it or they could have puschased all the parts new from the factory to do this as well.
