You may want to consider a Diesel rated motor oil. I understand with the wide spread of roller lifter camshafts in cars and light trucks the EPA has been after oil manufacturers to cut back on the additive package in automotive oils to reduce pollution. Most big diesels still run flat tappets and their oils have all the additives.

These are my opinion: Its what I've got in Mom's M5.

Engine: 30wt. HD (My opinion. I live in NC. If you live where its real cold you may want to try a multi-weight like 15w-40. Don't go too thin, these engines get 'knockified' when the oil is too thin.

Transmission: 90wt. GL1 (I've been told GL5 is harder on the brass busings in the transmission, although GL5 should otherwise be a better lubricant.)

3 point (Tel-O-Flo system) Dextron 3 (Original was Type 'S'. Dextron 3 I am told is the modern equivalent. Some guys who use their MMs with other brand tractors and equipment run Hytrans in the 3 point with no problems.)
