can anybody give me the low down on G tractors.
What's differences between straight G, a GB, GTB, and GTA. I know that a GBD is a diesel but what are differences in the other models? Hydraulics? Horsepower? What else?

So I have a ?? do you say for the GVI G six as in Roman numeral or is it G Vee Eye ??? which is it and why

Then why didn't MM lable the M5 the MV? I like calling them them GVI.

This is probably not complete:

The first model was the GT. Used about the same transmission as the FT it replaced. I think it was 3 speed. brake was by hand lever on side of transmission case. 403 cu. in gas engine.

This was replaced by the GTA. similar tractor, with some updates.

Then the GTB replaced the GTA. About the same 403 engine, but transmission was a heavier version of the U series 5 speed.

There was also a GTC. A lot like the GTB but with LP fuel. Engine was smaller than 403 displacement.

The last in the series of 4 cylinder 403 powered G's was the GB, as far as I know. Similar to the GTB but with revised brakes. This model sometimes says only 'G' on the serial tag. Don't know why.

The GBD was diesel, 6cyl.

Then MM went to the 6cylinder GVI

GB also had heavier duty transmission. And there was also a GTB Diesel essentially same as GB diesel 6 cyl except for transmission as I understand it.

As to HP, the 1939 GT gas tested at 55 Belt / 45 drawbar HP
the 1950 GTB gas tested at 58 / 49.5 at 1100 rpm
the 1955 GB gas tested at 65.6 / 59.1 at 1300 rpm
the 1955 GB diesel (425 ci 6) tested at 62.8 / 55.4 the 1955 GB LP (403 ci 4) tested at 70.5 / 62.4
