First off, my KTA is in need of some motor work. I plan on having the cylinders sleeved and bored back to standard. I was wondering who manufactures sleeves for old tractors? The machine shop was just asking if parts are even available!

This tractor has a 283ci motor with a 4.25" X 5" bore and stroke, the same as model U's.

Appreciate the help!

I can not believe plain jane repair sleeves are that hard to come by. Also if you can find oversize pistons use them. did you price the fix per cylinder for installing a sleeve and the the sleeve? Where are you located? J.

Hmmmmm mmm, know of a fellow in Flesherton who wanted to bore out his KTA. Problem was, you need a special boring machine as the cylinders are so long. Can't remember who he found that would do it, but it was real pricey, didn't happen. I know of two brothers up in Lindsay that have lots of old Minnies, they might be able to help you out somehow. Not sure of there names, won't be able to get a phone number for a few weeks.

Try Darton Sleeves, look in their sleeve catalogue under repair sleeves.

I had 3 U cylinder blocks sleeved back to fit standard pistons in the mid '90s. Cost was about $100 per hole, sleeve + labor. I'm sure it would be more now.

Overboring to 4-3/8 would work except the pistons in there now probably have the setscrew lock in them. The small end of the rod is wider for these pistons than the rod that works with the later full floating pistons. I only found this out after I had one set of blocks ready to go on the engine (I thought.) The rods can be cut down to work with the full floating pistons, but that is another machine operation that must be paid for.
