I have a 1953 Model BF (formerly Avery).
Would like to know if anyone can tell me exactly where the decals and/or emblems go on the tractor.
I have never found a clear article or book describing this tractor. If there is a book I can order, please let me know.

Also, I bought some spray cans of paint from a MM parts supplier. The paint is way too yellow. Where can I get authentic paint for touch ups.?

My Hercules engine plate is missing. Is there a way of getting engine numbers from castings? If so, is there a place to get a new plate? Is there a web site featuring the Hercules engine used in my tractor.

Any information will be appreciated.

There is a photo of an MM Avery BG in the tractor photos section of this web site. The BG is a wide front version of the BF. This photo shows the decals and color.

A friend of mine takes one to shows. I don't have a picture but I could get one depending on how large of a hurry you are. He lives about 25 miles from here and does not have e-mail.

As far as decals go, I think they only had the 'Minneapolis-Moline' and the 'BF' on each side of the hood.

They may have had the UB grille decal centered above the grille on the front. (I did that on Mom's BG and it looks nice but may not have been accurate for restoration. I don't remember how I came up with that.)

Unless it has a PTO shield there probably won't be a good place for the PTO warning (Yours may not have a pto anyway.) and It may have had a 'starting caution' decal on the upper rear of the fuel tank or something like that.

FYI Not all IXB3 engines had sleeves in them. That would make them IXB3SL on their tags. But its nice if they do.

I think I can help you with the Hercules part. On the left side near the top center of the block there is an area that is flat. Unless you have a replacement block, Hercules will have stamped the engine model number IXB3SL and the serial number. Check there first. Where are you located? J.

Thanks, but I don't find any stampings near the top of block on either side. I see some stamping behind the hydraulic pump. Perhaps I'll take it off this winter after the shows and parades are over.
