Hi, I just paid NAPA $14.78 for an engine oil filter for my 1947 U. I think that's crazy. Does someone have filters at a more reasonable price?

I priced a NAPA for my UB, should be same filter. NAPA 1111 oil filter was $15.00

These are cross reference:
WIX 51111
CarQuest 85111
Hastings LF401
Baldwin T55-M
Fram C152
WIX makes CarQuest and NAPA as indicated by similar numbers. I got the 85111 at local CarQuest for about $9.00 Still not cheap but better than 15.00 The package also included the gasket.

Yeah thats terrible! To think someone should have to spend 15 bucks to make sure their 60 year old tractor keeps on chugging along. Maybe you could save a little money & just wash the old filter out & change it every other year.I think maybe run the oil through some cheese cloth & reuse it also!

I've taken a couple oil filters out of junkers that were 'rechargeable'. You could literally remove a couple snap rings, take the end plate off and replace the wadding inside. But then maybe that is how they became junkers. . .

About $15 was what the Ford Dealer wanted for a filter for their 7.3 Superdudy oil filters when I worked for them in '99.
