I found a U that is in sad shape, and was thinking of buying it and making it in to a puller. I have herd that the 403 engine might fit in a U? I was woundering if any one has tried this, and what it would take to do this? thanks.

The 403 will fit with a little grinding from the inside of the bellhousing and inside of the bellhousing where the starter gose. If you want to get the most of the 403 you want to use the flywheel from the 403 as far as the radiator hoses, you can turn over the waterneck on the radiator on the top side and need the waterneck off of the 283 to fit to the radiator on the bottom side. Other than those few tricks put it together and go have fun.

Yes this can be done. There are a could minor considerations involving the starter gear and upper radiator hose lining up, but very minor. Basically it is a bolt in. We run a UB with 100 horses in a "warmed up" 403. Give me a call anytime. 517-726-0484
