UTU Hand crank box

hey guys. i just purchased an old utu and the hand crank shaft is free and turns but it will not turn the engine over. is there a chain or something in that small box that is attached to the shaft that could be broken?

I've got a U with the same issue. In order to replace the pin, you'll have to remove the front end.

You may can split the box either by reaching past the radiator or reach up from underneath to remove the nuts from the bolts. to get the shaft out you have to split the box whether you remove the pedestal or not. Drive out the pin in the gear on the shaft, then you should be able to pull the shaft from the pedestal. You can probably replace the chain or whatever without removing the shaft.

Yes. There is a chain and 2 sprockets. A pin in the sprockets could be sheared too.
