The best approach I have found is to do the following: 1. Remove the clamps and drive small to medium sized chisels into the slots in the out tube of the front axle. 2. Remove inner tube from the outer which can take a little help from your sledge hammer but they will ussually break loose withoput heat. 3. With the inner tube out, throughly clean the ID of the outer tube. I use a 2-1/2 to 3" wire brush on a long shank in my 3/8 drill. Make certain to blow out all the debri. 4. Throughly clean the OD of the inner tube with a wire brush. I hve even used a file to get the realy though stuff off. 5. Lube everything up with some WD-40 and slide it back to together with the chisels spreading the outer tube. You might need to use the sledge some but if you swing the inner port back and forth as you push it in, it will sometimes slide easily. The connecting rods can be more difficult sometimes. I basicaly do the same thing but have needed to put heat on those once or twice. THat is what I have dome one my smaller MMs withthe same stly of adjustable frontend. Hopefully, yours will not be stuck too badly.
