I understand that some MMs were sold in the early '40s with starter but no other electrics. My Cousin bought a '40 ZTS sometime in the '50s that only had the battery box, starter, push button and cables-no instrument panel, generator, or wiring harness. He claimed that he was told it was sold that way when new and that MM just didn't have the rest of the electrical parts to put on it at the time. My opinion was it was ordered that way (It was cheaper) and the idea was that the owner would install the electrics himself later when he had the money. He always hand cranked the ZTS. When he got interested in tractor pulling he took the starter and battery box off and never put them back on. I guess its your tractor and you can fix it the way you want. If you put the full electrics on it, you will need either a cutout or a regulator for the generator. Its supposed to be 6v positive ground. You will also need to install the correct switch in the intstrument panel and I bet your RTU doesn't have an ammeter in the instrument panel either. You say your RTU is a '41. Does it have a square tank or the later rounded tank? If yours has the rounded tank, the rear tank mount will also be the instrument column. What guages and switches are already in there? If yours has the square tank you will also have to come up with an instrument panel to put the switches and guages in.
