I have a u standard with a hand clutch in my shed. I know nothing about it. Is it worth a hoot? They said it ran when is was parked in there ( many many years ago).

I have seen 2 of these sell at auctions this summer that were runners, but rough looking. They both sold for $900.

UTS tractors have some good points and some not-so-good points.
The down side is that they generally have no hydraulic lift, so are limited to dragging things, PTO work, and looking stylish. The good thing is that they are hell-for-stout. With 45 +/- HP they are not whimpy.

Like any other tractor, the question is what you want to do with it.

I paid $1175 about 3 years ago for a 1948 UTS (standard) on LP. Sheet metal was extremely good. Mechanically, rather poor. It ran, but had to do work to the transmission, replace clutch, overhaul engine, overhaul front end. Rear tires were very good, which added value for me. Fronts were old car tires. Just FYI for a reference. I don't know if I paid too much or too little, but it was the tractor that I wanted so it didn't matter much.
