My uncle says he has a "G", but I don't see a plain G listed in the serial number section. I think it is probably a GTB but I haven't seen the tractor in a long time. It is a standard (wheatland) model with a 4 cylinder gasoline engine, hand clutch, 7.50 X 20 front tires, and 15(18.4) X 34 rear tires. He says according to the serial number it was made in 1951 and that it is a plain "G". I don't know what the serial number is. Can you guys tell me what this tractor is from the little bit of information I have. Also what is the difference between a GTB and a GTC? Thanks

For some now unknown reason MM quit putting the full model designation on some of their tractors in the early 50s. So some GTBs, some, if not all ZA's were just plain 'G' and 'Z' on the serial tags. Model designations were confusing as well: A GTC was pretty much a GTB except factory built for lp gas. (The engine may have had a slightly different displacement too.)
A UTC on the other hand was factory built as a high crop.

From what you say, I think you have a GTB. I have a '52 GTB myself. Most refered to them as G's as that what was on the hood. GTAs where updated to a GTB. A GTC was basically the same as a GTB, only a 340 cu in LP engine vs the 403 cu in gas engine in the GTB, but both where called a G.
