I have changed over a number of tractors to 12 volt battery and chargeing systems. normally you can use the 6 volt starter as it spins faster and starts the engine much faster resulting in less wear and tear . Imstall a resistor on coil or replace with a12 volt coil .

Alot of shops have the ability to convert the charging system. Our 335 and a mower was don. No problem. After that you simply change all the light bulbs to 12V. Not complicated at all.

Can't say much on that tractor but chargering systems are chargeing system and all work the same. So if you don't go to a ull 12 volt system you will have a battey that doesn't charge more then maybe 8 volts which will kill a 12 volt battery. I would either switch to a full 12 volt system or fix the problems with the 6 volt system. I've never had a tractor as that one but I have had a couple RTUs which aren't much diffderant

Depending on the tractor etc it could cause big problem. You could burn up the coil or have it explode, yes they will explode and it sounds like a shotgun going off when it does. Also if the chargeing system is set up for 6 volts the battery wil never charge up. Other then that it works ok and theres 1000s of tractors that have been switched over to 12 volts but alternators have been added and resistors also to keep the coils form going bad
