I was just wrecking a 39 ZTU and a 40 ZTS and noticed the manifold were different. The 39 has a normal manifold like R or Z but has the TRX 12 carb. The 40 Z has a totally different manifold like a U. It has the heat riser with two bolts that you adjust like a U. It has the later Marvel carb like most Z's.

Actually, the manifold with the heat riser is the early all fuel (Kerosene) and the other manifold is 'probably' for gasoline.

Later Kerosene manifolds were not adjustable and looked rather much like a gasoline manifold.

Thanks for the info. It now makes sense as the Z has a kerosene tank. Are these maanifolds hard to find or was there alot of all fuel manifolds?

I"ve seen the old Keroses manifolds before, but in very very bad shape usually. Although not real functional for today"s fuel, they are a bit hard to come by and would make a great show part on an original tractor. Would you sell the Kerosene tank? How does it attach?

The kerosene tank is part of the gas tank. I will
probably rebuild the motor and use the original manifold and tank as there was only a couple hundred 40 Zts made.

Hello,
What is the casting number? Early U manifold with heat riser valve is KE5821C. If it is, I sure would like a shot at it. If it is not broken.
Thank you,
Don
