What was the stock Boost pressure of a 585 Diesel?
How much could it handle?

i run 2 of these engines 1 in a 1355 diesel to farm with ,1 in a puller ,the puller runs 50 plus pounds boost ,have had no problems except overdrive wont hold in roadgear i do all my own engine building where i live on the farm ..

hi i have an oliver 2655 with a 585 engine.this spring the oil pump drive failed.the engine is ok it was caught in time. i would like to turbo charge this engine if it can be done nicely.i also need the external oil pump and all the things needed to convert it over .i bought the tractor at stilsvile auction,Stilsvile IN in 1990

We are building a 585 to pull and have been told if we run stock cylinders ,with out sleeves ,not to go over 20,lbs boost or it will crack a jugs.

Remember the turbo was only available as a field kit as an altitude compensator. I don't think it was too much.

That may not necessarily be true. There was a serial number series for a TD585-6 Turbo Diesel engine (G1350 and A4T-1600) - serial number began with 467.

I've never run across a spec for boost pressure on these engines. I wouldn't expect it to be very high though.
