I have a GVI LP, can"t for the life of me find a dipstick for the transmission. Found a dipstick for the hydraulics, I think behind the seat. I even have the reprint service/repair manual. Are the hyd. and trans. the same? Thing has a cab on it and this makes things more difficult to find and service. Thanks.

in all our old moline hyd systems we have been using a good quality hy-tran fluid like all the new tractors use for combined trans and hyd functions. Works great no problems

The fluids are separate. That dipstick behind the seat would be for the hydraulics. Sounds like a type 'E' system to me.

The transmission fluid level is checked at a plug on the right hand side of the transmission, probably near the brake pedals. To add transmission fluid the older Us had a 3-bolt plate over a hole in the transmission top, not too far back from the shifter. Your GVI should have something similar or else a pipe plug in the cover.
The Old Us used 140wt in the transmission and I am unsure of what hydraulic fluid your GVI would use.
