After pulling the head on my KTA to get a closer look on things I discovered that one of the cylinder walls was damaged. It appears to a be a gouge or a tapered chip out of the side if I am explaining myself correctly. The total area is about 1" by 1".

Repairable, new block, insert sleeve and rebore? What should I do? I'm in unchartered waters.

I agree with George on this a sleeve repair would be the way I would go as well. Besides it's not your going to go farming with it day in and day out.

It kind of sounds like a rod may have broke at one time or another. Where is the damage locatated on the cylinder at? Top or bottom? and how far from the end?

The damage is located approximately 3 inches from the top of the cylinder. I have no idea when it last ran or what was changed, but the bottom end is spotless.

Any ideas on repair or just replace the block?

Take the block to a good automotive machine shop. They should be able to tell you how to fix it. I've had good results with sleeves before.

Sounds like a sleeve would fix the problem . Either 1/8 or 3/32 wall depending how much damage there is . Sleeving is a good repair , I do many of them .
