U302 engine on 335

You can probably use the 335 flywheel and hub if you can make the 335 starter fit in the 302 crankcase. At the very least this will involve drilling and tapping a hole for the setscrew. I don't know about the diameter of the starter hole either.

The reason you have to use the right starter with the right flywheel is the teeth count on the starter drives and ring gears are different.

You will also have to use the 335 water return tube from the front cylinder head. All the 220s I have seen use a separate thermostat housing but it interferes with the air cleaner mount on the 335 water pump. (Apparrently the 302 air cleaner mounts differently.)

You can probably also build a 302 on a 335 crankcase,I think the crank and jugs will fit right in, (unless by chance the bores for the 302 jugs are bigger in the crankcase.) but all the factory 302s I have seen so far have been built on the same part number crankcase as the MM 206 diesels and they are supposed to be a bit heavier constructed.
