My KTA has two levers which are mounted on top of the transmission case. There is one on each side of the steering column. The one is my throttle but I am not sure what the other one does. It's linkage runs alongside the the motor and ends at the magneto. Forgive my stupidity, but what in the heck is it for?

The lever is pushed in the upright position for starting and after engine is started and warmed up pushed forward to advance the magneto. Pulled to the rear to kill the engine. If a later style magneto without advance and retard has been installed the lever isn't going to do anything.

The lever on the left that goes to the magneto, is to short out the magneto to kill the engine.
