Was wondering the exact weight of the govenor weights in a stock U . I want to increase the Rpm's to about 2500. I was told about weighing them and grinding them down, but would like to know if anyone has done this before and might have some info to help me out. Also, are there any other models that use a smaller weight that I could swap? Thanks Mike.

Listen to the Captain. You need a Hoof governor, and adapter plate, if you want to get consistant high RPMs. Lightening the weights slows governor response. The heavier the weights, the faster the governor responds to RPM change. Shimming the stock Moline spring normally gets surging. The bottom end of the spring response is gone. You have to install a stiffer, non shimmed, spring to get a smooth governor. Governor response is a direct correlation to spring tension and pressure.

Stock MM governors are good for about twenty percent over book values. They were made for us farm boys. Pullers need something different.

I take mine apart and drill a hole in the weights the bigger the hole less it weighs then shim up the spring a little.

Contact Matt Gall at Motec Engineering, 765-963-6628, he can set you up with the governor that will do the job for you. Just tell him the correct info for what you are doing. VERY reasonable also. John
