Will the belt pulley drive from a UTU work on a G 706? I'd like to set my 706 up to run a Baker Fan at our next club show and have a belt set-up for a UTU that I believe will work on the 706. But, I'd like to know for certain before I start draining fluids and pulling parts.

Thanks!

SW, I have transplanted a UB pulley drive in my 705. It's the same. Just in case you ever need to know, the PTO on my 705 came off a G, the PTO on my 97 Massey came off a UB. There's no problem.

You are probably looking at the same manuals I am. But, I do not have a parts maunal for both tractors. If I did, the parts numbers are likely not going to match but that does not mean the Belt Pulley drive will not interchange.

I am guessing I would not be the first to attemp this trans-plant and want to hear from someone who has beeen there done that.

There aren't that many bolts to deal with, so I would just park them both on a pretty step hill. Let them sit a day or so, and the gear oil should drain back enough that you should be able to swap stuff around and not make too big a mess. Let us know what you find out.

Hi Joe!

I talked to a couple of people on the phone last night and they said MM did not change the pulley drives when they came out with the 705/706. So, I will be performing the swap shortly if the Baker Fan is available at the Mid-February show.

It is hard to give a 706 a good work out when you only own 1 acre of land on the out skirts of town.

You could just drag a couple of 2 star crawlers around behind your G706 and I would think That could make it snort a little.

Hi David!

The nieghbors might not like the dust I'd kick up. However, there is a pretty steep hill not too far away I can run it on if the Baker Fan option does not work out.

I thought I might have to use the 706 to get the 2 Star Loader into the shop. The 5 Star and 670 both found it a little difficult to tow it in the soft soil.
