The steering wheel on my m-5 and G 706 have weather cracks,up to 1/4 inches. What material works best for repair? Body puddy or what? Also are aftermarket wheels available?

A couple of years ago I had the same problem with a JD that I was working on. I had heard from someone about filling the cracks with JB weld. Well, I did it and it worked out pretty well. I am now working on a 48 UTS with a lot of cracks in the steering wheel. I will use the JB weld again. This time, I will overfill the cracks and then use a dremel or something similar to smooth it back down once it is set up. The previous time I filled the cracks and smoothed it off, and it shrunk a little, leaving a little indention where the crack was. It is not obvious, but could be better. After I was through, I painted the steering wheel, and it looks almost like new. Have been on two 3-day tractor rides (WMT Tractorcade in eastern Iowa) and none of the paint has rubbed off.
