I am restoring my dad's old RTU. I am wondering about availability of bearings for the front steering shaft and input sterring gear shaft.
I have the part numbers but I am wondering were to contact with these numbers to get new bearings.
The prefixes are JT9202 and FT7014
I would like to find out if I can get these before I tear to old ones out.
Thank you
Richard McNiff

Rich, I replaced that special bearing on the worm gear last year on my ZB, It was a national number and I got mine at NAPA it was around $75.00 if I can find the old box it came in I will send stock number to you.

Richard, I don't have a parts book in front of me, but I think you need at least 1 other part number because I think the bearings on the vertical shaft have a separate part number for the cup and for the cone of each bearing. And then there is the bearings that the worm shaft rides on, for a total of at least 3 part numbers.

Here are some places to check: Welters 417-498-6496. Everetts 740-922-3335, Baucom 1-800-658-2309. Also Les Wenzel but I don't have his telephone number.

I don't know if it applies to Rs or not, but a fellow I talked to who rebuilt the steering in a U said the roller bearing that the worm rides on is tough to find and very expensive if found. His solution was to machine the bearing faces on the worm down and press on a cone for a standard roller bearing. As it is, the worm gear has the inner races for the worm shaft bearings machined on it.

I don't have the number of the bearing but the race is a Timkin 32c with associated number 200006 22 I think this is all you need to get a replacement bearing. But if your tractor has any lubericant left in it you can adjust it. Unless it was like mine and the rollers were all missing or fell out. good luck
