UTS Drawbar

Does anyone know what "shape" the drawbar should be on a 1948 UTS? Should it be straight? Mine has a "bow" in it. When laying on a flat surface, the center of it would be approximately an inch raised. Also, what should be the diameter of the hitch pin hole?

By the way, I have lived in N.W. Kansas (grew up there). Lived in Macomb, Il. for a couple of years before moving to N. Liberty in 1981. Then Tiffin in 1988. See "Introduction" post below. This is in response to your question on the other forum.

Think Walker Welding could straighten a bent drawbar? I had him reshape the hitchpin hole on my old JD and he did a good job.

It probably carried something pretty heavy on the drawbar. Its supposed to be straight.

My first U actually had the drawbar curve up a bit on the end. An old timer said it probably was backed into something pretty hard.

I think the hole should be about 1" I've had to have a couple of them welded up and re shaped them
with a die grinder.

the drawbar on mine has 2 bends in it makes an offset the bend close to the end goes under the tractor with the pin going through it the long n goes out the back under the seat

I have a 1952 UTS and the drawbar is straight and has a 1 inch hole for the pin. I made mine out of 1/2 inch steel when I restored mine. Hope this help you.
