Ive been workin on my U and im using the welters set up. G crank offset ground to fit my U rods, the short M5 blocks bored to 4.81...G carb, M670 propane intake n exhaust with 4210 heads.Im only pullin it in DIV 3.The questions i have are... should i use my stock cam and leave the cam timing alone?Ill be pulling 5500 up to 7500..One more thing..I have the heads from this 403 that i got the crank from, they are GE30A..Intake and exhaust valves are bigger than the ones in my 4210 heads..Since im goin from 403 cid to 448 cid shouldnt i atleast keep the 403 dia valves rather than goin down in dia in the 4210 heads??The valves are longer but that can be fixed easy enough...thanx...

I would regrind the cam to match the engine, If I wanted to really improve the heads I'd go to a 4232 or 4233 and dish the piston if needed to control compression, A stock 4232 will beat the He// out of a worked over 4210 head, If I were going to cut the seats and go to a lot of trouble I'd start with either the 32 or 33 working the combustion chamber also. Good for 100 to 130 hp depending on many factors. INcluding different dynos( some read high some low). My dyno is very conservative a tractor that does 112-114 HP on a M&W will do 98-100 HP on a Taylor , HYd. power conversion verse water brake.

How much on average will it cost me to offset the crank. Or can i go with a M Farmall rod and not offfset crank.

If you are off set grinding a G crank to U rods you can an easy 1/8 of stroke , depends on where you go to get the work done I'd say an average of 250-300$. I wouldn't use the M rods.

WE didn't notice a big difference between square port heads and older round port heads with very similar compression. We took 4213's off a 403 and ran 4232's the compression was very close,(I think the 32's were slightly higher) we went from 80 to not quite 85 on LP using the same M&W dyno. The valves were the same size. the cam is pretty mild.

I was saying if you were going to invest lots of effort why not start with the better head? 6% is a difference I usually see over 10% difference If the heads are bone stock, If the head is worked its a considerable difference.
