UTS Vaporizer Tube

I am restoring a 1948 UTS LP. I have not been able to find the tube that carries water from the water pump to the vaporizer. This is a 1/2" OD copper tube about 30+ inches long with three bends. I am currently planning to make one out of soft copper tubing. Does anyone have any experience doing this, and if so, was it successful? Does anyone know of a source for this part?

Any help would be appreciated.

I might have a tube in the salvage yard. The problem with steel tubing is rust. The nut rusts to the pipe and when you remove the nut it twists the tubing in two. You can use copper tubing. If it breaks next to the flare nut it is viberating. You will need to put a peice of hose over it to dampen it.

Also, try to find a "long neck flare fitting", that's my description of the longer flare fitting, it'll help stabilize the tubing at the flare. My '50 UTS/LP has copper for all the lines, I use it to plow, disc, and shows, parades, almost every day, no problem with the copper.

The same for me on using the soft copper tubing. Only thing is it was on my 5 star. There you go John! That darn 5 star goo roo again! <:^)

Thanks for all the advice. Another person also told me to just make one out of soft copper, so I attempted that last night. Looks pretty good. Only time will tell if it works OK. My tractor is in a BUNCH of pieces right now. Will probably be a couple of months before I get it running again.
