I may have the opportunity to get a nice little MM 335. It was a government surplus tractor given to a municipality way back when. The town used it very little to mow the sides of the roads. It has a belly mounted sickle bar mower on it. The tractor shows very little wear and I believe it is a very low hour tractor. The hour meter shows 1400 hours, but I'm not sure it works. I enjoy antique tractor pulling and I currently pull with a Deere 620. I'm looking for a smaller tractor to play with in the lighter classes. This nice original Minnie Mo caught my eye partly due to the fact that it is original and in nice shape. I love tractors that are original with their "work cloths" on (who doesn't) as opposed to a restored tractor with new paint. My questions for any of you MM guys: What is the ballpark value of this model (1961 MM 335 gas located in western MA) and would it make a good puller? My knowledge of Minnie Mos is just beginning...
P.S. - I know the value is only what someone is willing to pay, so I guess what I should ask is, are they rare or plentiful?
Thanks very much

My opinion is that it is somewhat unusual for a 335 to STILL have the mounted mower on it and I would hate to see you separate the tractor and mower as I understand that the mower uses some extra hydraulics not supplied on the basic utility tractor.

Dad restored his 335 about 18 to 20 years ago. Sence he owned it; it never was a farm tractor. We simply use it around the house for the loader. So it sits more than anything. Now he has the idea of restoring it again. Mainly fixing oil leaks, tune-up and new paint, rims and tires. But we really don't like the bigger tires on it for the gear ratio. Smaller ones for our useage would be better.

I have a close frirnd that purchased a 335 in my club. He now turns well over 100 h.p. in it. The advantage to the 335 is it is light, tough, and a stock 50 h.p. 206 or 60 h.p. 220 cube engine bolts right in in place of the 33 h.p. 165. Cranks and blocks swap. MM is interchangeability, so whether you build it hot or not, a 335 will have some grunt!

To answer your questions, 335's in my area bring anywhere from $1500 for a good runner in work clothes to about $2500 for one that has been repainted. Will it pull, yes it will. They are gaining in popularity in the pulling circuit. It just depends on what your intentions are, to keep it original or to lighten it up to get it in classes where it can compete. There are a few that run the 3250lb class that are very competitive. Are they rare, not really they aren't real common but not necessarily highly collectible either. Hope this helps.

Did you buy the 335? Did you remove the sickle mower?
