My MM U pulling tractor has hubs welded on for nine bolt rims and wouldn't you know it left side axle seal is leaking bad. Is there any way to change the seals with out grinding the hubs off? I thought about trying to us pump packing to try to slow the leak. thanks John

the outer axle bearing has a shoulder on the axle and the only way the seal can be put on is from the outside. I have one apart right now for bearing and seal replacing

you should be able to remove the transmission/rear end top cover, then remove the axle nut on the inside. then you should be able to pull the axle housing off of the transmission case. then you can pull the axle out of the the axle housing. lot of work for a seal, but would be better than grinding...i think.
