i was having a problem with a center control lever not centering to operate the loader properly without haveing to manually center the center lever for the loader lift..to work and not operate and activate the bucket..well the centering spring broke off a ear.center lever.and it looks as if the whole dang thing has to come apart to replace it..ill have to jury rig it some how ..i already have a plan..just have to go back to it after i cool off..and attack it with a calm attitude..aint old tractors fun..gregg

There is a better way in reply to Gregg in ohio, 12-27-2005 16:10:26
A local guy sells a kit to use external springs and eliminate tearing every thing apart. Springs are heavier and easily replaced then if you ever need to. It may be the same thing the other poster is referring to. If you need email and I can get a phone number. It cost around $100 but you easily save that in labor and aggravation.

A fellow who goes by JK2 on this forum or on the MM website had a pretty neat procedure of replacing those springs without taking the whole mess apart. He posted about a month ago and it would pay to go back and find his post.

It involved cutting the broken spring off with a motor tool or a die grinder, and you spin/thread the new spring into place around the lever from the outer end. If there is an unbroken spring on the outside move it in place of the broken spring, then put the new spring on the outside.

I've heard those springs can be tough to find, best to have the replacement in hand before you start.

The other fix is to install an assembly that has external centering springs. I think Everetts 740-922-3335 or Welters 417-498-6496 would have them.
