Started M-5,heard bad noises, shut it off. Checked to see if cat or coon in fan. Nope! Tried to start it again, but just made funny noises. Figured bendix spring broke, but the nose had broke leaving no rear bearing for the armature. I know M-5 & 602 are the same, but what other models should I be looking at for that 3 bolt nose????

That Prestolite starter was basically only used on those 2 models and historically have been prone to that type of breakage. Good used are rather rare, there are aftermarket nose cones now, but typically the armature shaft takes quite a hit during the destruction process and may end being bent. We sell NEW Delco replacements for this application and are a much better unit, Call for current pricing,920 295 3278, Dale
