What can be said for the reliability of the MM 425 DIESEL found in the MM GVI and MF 95 Super? I dont know anything about Minnies, so any and all information would be appreciated. What are the weak points? What are the things to look for in purchasing a tractor with this engine? How are they at grunt work? What is the parts availability like? Thank you in advance!

I have a 425 in my GBD. Like any good diesel, take care of it and it will take care of you. Mine suffers from air leaks in the system and bad pump seals since I bought it so it is pretty weak. I need to replace lines and filters to the pump. Many older M-M take starting fluid to start. They ran at a 15:1 compression or less and when that gets low or there is air in the system, it will get tempermental. The 451 and 504 are very similar engines. They are all durable heavy torque monsters.
