Just wondering: How many folks have had a lapse of memory and put the valve oiler nails through their fingers trying to move their dissasembled R or Z blocks around? Believe me, I only did it once. I think it is part of your right of passage in to the M-M mechanic status. (Even though I tell every new M-M guy about them as a warning.)

Yes, I remember. This is one of the things I love about this hobby. I find it fun to discover the different engine designs out there & all of them work! These engines are still ticking along half a century later. Sticking a nail through through an oil line to get a drip was probably viewed as a common sense design & not hi-tech. It seems as engine designers today try to go to extremes to out do one another.
