What were the post runners to the ZT through the years of the company? ZA-ZB..... ..

Awhile back I started a thread about what superseded the U. I think I remember Moschy helped me out and we figured that out. Can anyone help me with this?

The model JT Twin City started it all. The ZT was its styled replacement, however there were some unstyled ZT built in the changeover. 1936???

John Grandfield taught me a few things on here about the model J. If you go to the photos posted on this site and type in JT for a search, you will see a few examples. I forget where I saw an early ZT with no styled front end. Maybe it was the collector magazine. I am assembling a JTU with the M-M engine conversion kit since most of them had a Waukesha to start with. Some late ones had a MM ZT engine in them. It was an odd changeover of which I have relatively little information.

Isn't an JT and a ZT chassis the same thing? The RE engine drops right in doesn't it?

The JT tranny is slightly shorter and something is different on the inspection plate. The RE will bolt in, but the JT has frame rails that attach to the side of the Waukesha engine, cannot fit the RE. There is a bracket that bolts to the front of the RE and to the JT steering. You can also modify the JT frame rails with some M-M supplied directions to fit. I have the files and instructions on my home computer. My JT will be getting a 220 U302 engine in it. How about that from a pile of junk parts?

ZA, ZB, 445, 4star and jetstar concurrently, jetstar2 then jetstar3 and then jetstar3super.

You might actually say that the jetstar replaced the 335 while the 4star replaced the 445 because the jetstar was supposed to be MMs low cost, no frills tractor. Although that wouldn't explain some 335 specials that were built during jetstar production.

The Jet Star 3 Super was the end of the line and was made through 1970.

Keep in mind the 4 Star was built only as a row crop tractor. The Jet Star was only built in a utility version. Also, based on engine size there was no replacement for the 335 with its 165 engine.

The Jet Star replaced the 445 utilty not the 335.The U302 replaced the 4 Star

The 5 star superceded the U and the ZA seriest came after the ZT. Then the 335 for the R and 445 for the ZA.
