Prairie Gold paint

I have a can of martin-senour prairie gold #99l3749 should be gold #2.
It is really orange compared to ppg prairie gold early gold. what can be done to take the orange out.
Have other people had problems with this?

Thanks for the ideas. I think the paint was mixed wrong at the distributor. They would not take it back at napa where it was purchased.
I finally convinced the painter that it wasn"t the correct shade. I think he contacted the rep. The paint company sent a pint of bright yellow pigment to mix in the orange.
it took about half a pint to get the paint color to match the ppg code mix, which we had half a pint mixed up to compare the colors.
when we were done blending in the yellow we were able to put some of both paints on a paint stick and couldn"t see any different color streaks when the two were put together. I am hoping that all turns out well when it is painted.

when ordering any special paint I would advise anyone to make sure that it can be returned if it is not right.

I am using what they call Federal Yellow in the industrial enamel paints. Looks right to me anyway..

That's the paint I use, if my tractor was in a line of Prairie Gold, it'd look the same color as most. I have a Z, U, 4 Star with that paint. I'd be tempted to take the paint back and see if the guy mixed it right if you think it's the wrong color. John

Do you have a picture of yours for comparison, we are going to spray a test panel to see if it looks better that way. What is the difference between prairie gold original and # 2 ?
the #1 mix from ppg on a small spot was closer to what was on the tractor while both ppg and martin-senour #2 mixes looked orange. maybe they will look different on a larger panel.

There are pictures of my tactors on this site, tactor photos, type in grandfield, the pictures show the 4 Star and Z much more orange than they are and the UTS shows much more yellow than it is. Don't know how to take a picture that will show the true color. What part of the world are you in? I'm in EXTREME NE Illinois, if all else fails, paint plow wheels or a sign or something to show the true color of the paint when sprayed and dry. Its been 10 years since I sprayed any of that paint, but seems to me like It changed shades as it dried and I liked the color a whole lot better 2-3 days later.

Parking lot stripe paint with a gloss hardener matches the underside of my ZA perfectly when dry. The tractor has never been touched since new in about 52. I used an oxidation remover and clear polish to bring out the color. It has a very slight orange tinge to the yellow. I got 5 gallons of the paint from a local asphault company for $10.
