Awhile ago I bought a MM that I believe to be a 1937 ZTU according to the SN. It has spoke rear wheels on rubber. I have seen pictures of similar ZTU's but none with spoke wheels. Would these be origional?

Tractor is rough shape. Thought I would try to restore but will require a lot of work. Would this age of MM be rare?

Looked the tractor over a little last night. The frame plate identifies it as a ZTU SN: 560389 I believe This shows it to be a 1937. The engine block has a casting RE 151 A with a 3 below it. The head has RE 101-A.

The rear wheels have 16 round spokes with 10.00-36 tires. I looked for some kind of identification stamp on the wheel or rim but could not find anything. They are fairly rusty, might find something once I begin to clean it up.
The wheel and rim are one piece not seperate like more modern set ups.

Round spoke rear wheels are not common on ZT tractors. They may be aftermarket parts made by companies like F&H. It was common for pre-WWII tractors to come from the factory on steel wheels. The farmer had many options to upgrade later to rubber wheels. The most common seemed to be to cut off the steel wheel outer ring and weld a rubber tire rim to the remaining flat spokes. Another option was to purchase the cast iron centers and factory rubber tire rims. I'd say the round spokes on your tractor make it sort of unique.

I will have to look the tractor over good this afternoon so that I can provide additional info.
As you can tell I know little about MM. And for the life of me can not make sense out of all the various letter designations.

I'll try to post tomorrow a little more about my tractor.

Curiosity compells me to ask what the serial number is on frame and engine. I assume it has the side valve RE engine?

Just guessing, it probably had steel originally. They may have cut the steel rims off & welded on rubber rims. Do they look like they are welded on? Could even be off of something else that has the same diameter axle. I have a '37 that I'm tinkering with, it had farmall rims on it when I brought it home. I live here in NW Arkansas. If you take a notion to sell it, I would be interested.

1937 was the first year MM built the Z, (except for maybe some pre-production models.) The spokes, I assume, are flat bars. and if so, probably the tractor was originally on steel wheels and it was more economical to cut the steel treads off and weld on pneumatic rims.
