OK Men WHAT IS THIS??????????

I have got a MM with serial # 05000580 I belive this makes it a 1953?
The engine is 4 cyl. Diesal serial #04801786. From the info I have found I would think it is what you call a U T S D. It has a wide front end. I have looked all over the computer trying to find one like it but thay are all differant. I will post a picture under the photo section on the left but I don"t know how to put them on the sight you will have to go the tractor photo"s to see it it will be under KSTEPP unkown Moline. Thanks for any help.

What you have is a 1954 UTSD.
05000001-05000018 UDS 1952
05000019-05000755 UTSD 1954
05000756-05000954 UTSD-M 1954
and so on. Hope this helps out.

I used to own one. Mine was a '54, and only said U on the serial tag. What do you want to know? There's lots of guys on here who would be glad to help out.

I would like a little history of the tractor, what this style was made for,where I could get a book on the 4 cyl. diesel and I would love to find a picture of this exact tractor in real good condition.. Thanks oh and mine also only has a U on the plate.

The wide front Us were sold mostly for plowing. I think it could handle 3-14s in most going and maybe 3-16s. In this particular area its real rocky and the topsoil is very thin, disk plows were popular. In my part of the country,(NC) the Frick Company sold some to power sawmills. These spent more time pulling a belt than moving under their own power. If yours was sold by Frick, it should have a brass tag on the sheetmetal somewhere.
The last job mine did before I got it was to power a pump, probably an irrigation pump. It still had the framework on the front when I bought it.

If you want a manual, I would buy an I&T manual for the ZB, UB, GB series of tractors as the UTS Diesel used the same engine as the UB diesel.

What you have is basically a U diesel. Most of the U diesels were standards(wide fronts). I have 2 1954 UTSD,2 1956 UTSD Specials, 1 1958 UTSD-M. From what I have learned most U diesels were used in the Canadian Prairies. You can see pictures in the tractors photos of this site.
