I need some help here, I posted a picture of a MM engine on the parts and pieces page, the engine is not stuck, and the guy that it belongs to, said it has been stored inside for 20-25 years as a backup for one of their water wells. Now it's going for scrap if I don't save it, I did take a picture of the tag, but didn't have a pen with me and the picture sucks. I will go back and get the info off the tag, but thought maybe someone would know what tractor it would fit, by looking at the picture.

Is the engine for sale and if so how much and where in tx is it. I would say it is a 336 it has the 3 bolt starter and the new style front cover if it has a tach drive on the side of the crankcase it would be a 336a4a the same engine as a 670 super.

I agree it looks like a 336 motor. Those heads and manifolds are very good property for pullers dont let it get away.

Redmud,
It's definitely a Moline engine. From the picture I'd say it's a 336 LP engine. The manifold is a newer style which makes me think it would be a 336 instead of a 283. The blocks do not look tall enough for a 403 engine. If it is a 336 it would fit M5, M602 and M670 tractors. Would also fit earlier models like U and 5 Star which originally came with 283 engines. It's worth way more than scrap even if you parted it out no matter what size it actually is.

Brian, I went back and got the info. model #336-4A
Ser. # 19400414 the engine seems to be in good shape, it seems to have good compression, it is a propane engine, and still has all the propane hardware. oil was clean and at the full mark. while I was there the guy it belongs to came up, said give him 50 bucks and take it, I reached for my hip pocket and came up with nothing. glad I didn't get stopped by a Cop. I told the Guy I would see him tomorrow and pickup the engine. I don't know what I will do with it, I don't own a Moline tractor, but do know where some are, and one is a 5 star. This is one more that will miss the scrap yard. Thanks Brian, Thanks Texas Denny and Family Tradition.

Redmud,
As you can see there are guys out there looking for these engines. I'd say you stole it if you get it home for $50. I'd say you're going to have to find yourself a Moline to put that engine in now.

Brian, I did get it for the $50, In a few days I will fire it off and check it out. The guy that I bought it from, said there were two in the building when he made the deal to do the cleanup around the farm. When he was through cuttin up all the old planters, cultivators and tillage equipment, someone had made off with one of the engines... And it about made me sick when I saw the junk {as he called it} that he had cut up and loaded for the scrap yard.

It's a Moline engine. The water tube and valve covers are Moline style. I have a ZTE and have had a ZAU. This engine looks a bit different. I don't think it is for a Z. But it may be late 50's or 60's. Plate data would sure help.

That looks like a 403 power unit. Not sure, but it looks a lot like it.
